Diabetes is a relatively common chronic disease. If you have diabetes, you will not be rejected for entry procedures in general on the basis of better blood sugar control. However, there are some units that may have specific requirements for diabetes and may reject it, such as the civil service entry physical examination, if your blood sugar is higher than normal, you will be considered unqualified for the physical examination. If you have poor blood glucose control, or if you have chronic complications, such as fundus, kidney or retinal disease, you will be rejected for special types of jobs or units with special physical requirements. Generally speaking, whether or not diabetes will be rejected for employment will be determined by consulting the specific physical requirements of the unit where you are employed.
