Does colon cancer cause constipation?

The most common manifestations of colon cancer are frequent bowel movements, thinning of stools or even blood in stools. However, if the tumor is large or in the late stage of colon cancer, it can also cause intestinal obstruction leading to defecation difficulty, which is manifested as chronic low intestinal obstruction, constipation, obvious abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting. This situation fundamentally requires active and effective anti-tumor treatment to alleviate the symptoms of obstruction, such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and so on. Among them, surgery is the most important treatment for early stage of colon cancer, which is usually performed by laparoscopic surgery.
