Causes and dangers of low creatinine in children

Low creatinine in children may be caused by pathologic factors such as nutritional deficiencies, which is an indirect response to poor nutritional status of the whole body; it may also be physiologic factors, which are not harmful.
1. Pathological factors: creatinine is produced by muscle metabolism in the body, low creatinine in children may be due to the fact that children are too skinny, the body’s muscle content is small, the metabolism produces less creatinine.
Nutritional anemia, renal system diseases or the presence of malignant tumors, such as leukemia, can also lead to low creatinine.
2. Physiological factors: creatinine is mainly located in muscle tissue, children’s muscle tissue content is less, so the creatinine value is lower than that of adults, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. With the increase of age, muscle tissue gradually increase, creatinine value will gradually return to normal.
Children with low creatinine, if accompanied by other symptoms, it is recommended to actively seek medical attention to find the cause.
