Small bumps at the base of the tongue

First, under normal circumstances, there are small, pink bumps at the root of the human tongue, which are taste buds that feel sour, sweet, bitter, spicy and other taste sensations, and you can’t do without them. Second, if they are large but have no symptoms or sometimes mild discomfort, they may be lymphatic tissue of the tongue – also known as lingual tonsils – and do not need to be treated. Third, if it is large and painful or bleeding, you should go to the hospital to get a biopsy for pathology section to see if it is a tumor. Benign ones are mainly papillomas, which can be removed surgically or treated with laser. If malignant, surgery or other treatment such as radiation or chemotherapy is needed.
