It is the first time that the Chinese medicine is used for the treatment of children’s diseases. It was first recorded by Qian Yi, a famous pediatrician in the Song Dynasty, in his “Straight Tips on Pediatric Medicine” for treating pediatric diseases. There were originally eight flavors of medicine, but Qian Yi removed two flavors to make it a pediatric medicine. Who was Qian Yi? He was a great famous doctor in the Song Dynasty. He was an official of the Imperial Medical Chancellor and was given a purple-robed gold fish bag by Emperor Shenzong of Song Dynasty. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, who was a country doctor. As a child, when Qian Yi saw that children were sick and suffering, he himself followed suit, and when his aunt read it, he gave Qian Yi a medical book called “Cranial fontanelle formula”, which specialized in treating children’s illnesses, and told Qian Yi that children’s illnesses were difficult to treat. “Because children can’t tell their own condition, they also don’t cooperate with pulse diagnosis, so it’s not good to diagnose. Also, their internal organs are delicate, and a slight mistake in medicine can lead to a big disaster, so they say: it is better to treat ten people than a child.” That night, Qian B made up his mind: he must cure the world’s children! From then on, Qian B went out with his aunt during the day to consult patients, and read medical books hard at home at night. While studying the classics such as the Treatise on Typhoid and Cold, he concentrated more on the Cranial fontanelle formula. By the time he was in his twenties, he was already a well-known pediatrician. One year, he cured the child of the Princess of Song Shenzong’s sister, the Princess of Song, who was particularly pleased and awarded Qian Yi the position of Hanlin medicine. Not long after, Song Shen Zong’s ninth son was sick, how the doctors could not cure, as a result, the Princess recommended Qian Yi. Qian B was cured, Song Shen Zong was very happy, so he appointed Qian B as the Minister of Imperial Medicine of the Imperial Hospital, giving purple clothes and gold fish bag. The Minister of medicine is the deputy of the President of the Imperial Hospital, equivalent to the Vice President, purple gold fish bag is the logo of officials above the third grade, in the Northern Song Dynasty, doctors are generally not eligible to wear. It can be seen that Song Shen Zong attached importance to Qian B. So far, from the imperial relatives down to the people’s homes, they all asked Qian B to consult the sick. One day, Qian B and his disciple Yan Xiaozhong was treating patients, a doctor brought Qian B prescribed a pediatric prescription to “consult”, mockingly asked: “Qian doctor, Zhongjing medical book contains the eight pills, your prescription seems to be less than the prescription of the two medicines, probably forgotten, right? ” Qian B replied with a smile: “Zhongjing this prescription, is for adults. Children’s pure Yang body, I think we can reduce the two flavors of cinnamon and sophora, and make the Six Flavored Dihuang Pills, so that children do not eat too warm and counterproductive.” The doctor listened to this, and suddenly realized. Yan Xiaozhong immediately wrote down his teacher’s words and compiled them into the book “The Straightforward Guide to Pediatric Medicine”. This formula is cut from Cui’s Eight Flavors Pill contained in Jin Kui Yao Yao, with the removal of cinnamon and sophora. It mainly treats the “five delays” and “five softnesses” of children. The five delays include delay in standing, walking, speaking, hair and teeth; the five softnesses include softness of the head, mouth, hands, feet and muscles, all of which are manifestations of poor growth and development in children. The growth and development of children is especially closely related to the kidney, liver and spleen as mentioned in Chinese medicine. The kidney is the master of bones, the liver is the master of tendons, and the spleen is the master of muscles; people can stand and walk, which requires the coordinated movement of tendons and muscles. If the liver, kidney and spleen are not enough, the tendons and muscles will not be nourished, and there will be a delay in standing and walking; the head will be soft and weak and cannot be lifted; the hands will be soft and weak and drooping and cannot be held and lifted; the feet will be soft and weak and it will be difficult to walk. The teeth are the remainder of the bone, if the kidney essence is insufficient, the teeth will be late. If the kidney is not full, blood deficiency and loss of nourishment, visible hair is late or hair thinning and withered. Speech is the sound of the heart, the brain is the sea of marrow, if the kidney essence is not full, the sea of marrow is not enough, the speech is slow, the intellect is not smart. The spleen is open to the mouth, and the main muscle, if the spleen is not enough, it can be seen that the mouth is soft and weak, chewing difficulties, muscle weakness, flaccid and weak. The Six Flavors Dihuang Pill then starts from the three internal organs of the liver, spleen and kidney. The main focus is to nourish Yin and fill essence with Shu Di Huang, yam to strengthen the spleen and stomach, and shamrock meat to nourish the liver and astringent essence. The first three flavors of the medicine are balanced by the nourishment of the yin and yang of the body. The first three herbs are used to balance the first three flavors. Zexia dispels the dampness in the kidneys, so that Shu Di is nourishing but not greasy; Dan Pi clears the liver fire and suppresses the warmth of Shan Yu meat; Fu Ling permeates dampness to help the yam strengthen the spleen, so that there is drainage in the tonic, so that the tonic is not greasy and the evil is dispelled without harming the right. Dihuang Tang, treating scabies The story of Kangxi’s imperial gift of Dihuang Tang, treating Cao Yin, Cao Xueqin’s grandfather’s scabies, was recorded in the “Aphorisms of the Court”. The six flavors of Dihuang Tang is not a recipe for scabies, so how did it cure Cao Yin’s scabies? Cao Yin was a weaver in Jiangning, living a debauched life, often mixed in the place of Qin Lou Chu Pavilion, suffering from scabies for two months, bedridden. Kangxi knew that Cao Yin must have a kidney yin deficiency, so scabies difficult to heal, so personally gave “six flavors of Dihuang Tang”, Cao Yin obeyed the order to take the medicine, the disease was immediately cured. In order to thank Kang Xi for the gift of medicine, Cao Yin wrote: “I occasionally feel wind and cold this year, because of the wrong ginseng, after getting relief, and then again suffer from scabies, lying sick for more than two months, fortunately by the emperor’s grace, ordered to take Dihuang Tang can be cured. Day after day to take Dihuang Pills, the body of the slave than the first sense of health and prosperity than before, all the grace of heaven, re-gift the rest of life.” It is not a health drug, don’t abuse it Six-flavored Dihuang Pills were respected by later generations of doctors as a representative formula to nourish the Yin of liver and kidney. In the Northern Song Dynasty, old vinegar, long-ripened earth and Liu Wei Di Huang Wan were regarded as the “three treasures” at home. In the Qing Dynasty, Shi Chengjin, a health scientist, wrote in the “Secret of Cheng Sheng”: “If you are traveling on a boat and have trouble eating early, you can bring Liu Wei Di Huang Wan.” Today, however, there is a more comprehensive understanding of the Six Flavored Dihuang Pills. It is not suitable for all people to take, especially not as a nutritional medicine, health care medicine for a long time. The general public does not distinguish between hot and cold deficiency and is afraid of abuse. The actual fact is that you should consult your doctor before using the medicine: is there kidney deficiency, is it kidney yang deficiency, or kidney yin deficiency? Should I take Six Flavored Dihuang Pills? How long should I take it? The actual fact is that you will not be able to get a good deal of money for your own personalized products.
