The common treatment for thalamic glioma is surgery and auxiliary radiotherapy. 1. Surgery: at present, the treatment of glioma is still mainly based on surgery, but since glioma is a malignant tumor and the tumor shows infiltrative nature, it is difficult to completely resect it during surgery, and there is still the possibility of recurrence after surgery. For glioma with low malignant grade, it is advocated to take timely surgical resection treatment, but after surgery, there will be sequelae, such as neurological dysfunction, coma, hemiparesis or aphasia, and so on. 2. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy: after surgical treatment, radiotherapy or chemotherapy should be carried out under the guidance of doctors. For grade I and grade II glioma, the survival period is relatively long and the prognosis is better with the treatment of radiotherapy after surgery. However, for grade III or IV gliomas, the prognosis is relatively poor even if radiotherapy is administered after surgery. In addition, radiotherapy or chemotherapy can be used for those who are older or in poor physical condition and cannot tolerate surgery.
