Chest CT can examine heart problems, mainly finding problems in the pericardium. The mediastinal window of chest CT can clearly show the size of each chamber of the heart and the diameter of blood vessels such as the aorta and pulmonary artery. The chest CT can see whether the chambers of the heart are enlarged or reduced, and whether the relationship between the chambers of the heart and the aorta is normal. An experienced CT diagnostician can also detect aortic coarctation through the chest CT. In general, to check heart problems, we mainly use cardiac ultrasound to understand whether the heart structure is normal and whether there are any abnormal channels, such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect and other congenital heart diseases. We can also understand the ejection fraction and ventricular wall motion of the heart through ultrasound, and the coronary artery vascular condition through coronary CTA or coronary angiography. If abnormalities in the heart are understood by chest CT, further heart-related specific tests are recommended.
