Methods of physical examination of inguinal lymph nodes

Physical examination of inguinal lymph nodes is usually done by visual examination and palpation, which should be operated by specialized physicians. 1. Visual examination: not only should we pay attention to the local changes, such as whether the skin is elevated, color, whether there are rashes, scars, fistulas and so on, but also pay attention to the state of the whole body. 2. Palpation: The doctor will put the index finger, middle finger and ring finger together, and put the belly of the three fingers flat on the skin of the examined area to carry out gliding palpation (gliding together with the skin). The order of examination is: from the upper cluster to the lower cluster. Attention should be paid to their location, size, number, hardness, tenderness, mobility, the presence of adhesions, as well as the presence of localized skin redness, swelling, scarring, fistulae, and so on. In addition, the doctor will take care to look for the primary lesion causing the enlarged lymph nodes during the examination. Patients are advised to undergo a physical examination of the appropriate areas under the guidance of a professional.
