How does the double bubble sign develop?

The double bubble sign is the occurrence of duodenal obstruction in the fetus, which is associated with abnormal development of a segment of the fetal duodenum or may be due to some other unknown cause.
After 18 weeks of fetal development, the fetus begins to swallow amniotic fluid through the mouth into the gastrointestinal tract. If a segment of the duodenum develops abnormally or for some other unknown reason, it may cause intestinal obstruction. As the obstruction worsens, the intestinal tube dilates to form a large vesicle and the gastric vesicle to form two empty vesicles, which will be seen in the ultrasound image of the double vesicles.
Suspicion of double bubble sign requires ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis, regular ultrasound to monitor the baby’s development and changes in the double cell, you can wait until after birth for surgical treatment.
