What is the correct way to administer ENT drops?

1.Nasal drip method Gently blow out the nasal secretions on each side before dripping. Supine head-down position: lie on your back with a pillow under your shoulder (or sitting position, only against the back of a chair), neck straight, head tilted back, chin tip facing up, put 2-3 drops of medicine into each side. Lateral head position: the affected side faces down with a pillow under the shoulder, the head slightly drops into the nasal cavity of the affected side with 2-3 drops. Or take the supine dropping head position, change to the lateral head position after putting the drops in, and lie on your side for 3-5 minutes. Soften cerumen anesthesia or kill insect-like foreign bodies in the external ear canal Method: (1) Lie on your side with the affected ear up. Use the opposite hand to move the affected ear from the back of the head in front of the auricle to the top of the back, and the other hand to put 3% hydrogen peroxide drops into the external ear canal and swab the external ear canal secretions, then wipe dry. (2) Slowly put 3~5 drops of the solution into the posterior wall of the external ear canal (the temperature of the solution should not be too low, otherwise it may stimulate the inner ear and cause vertigo), and then gently press the ear screen several times to cause the change of air pressure in the external ear canal and drive the solution into the middle ear cavity. (3) Keep lying on the side for a few minutes, so that the medication is in full contact with the middle ear. Then insert a sterile cotton ball into the external auditory canal interface and sit up. (4) In case of cerumen embolism, the medication can be injected directly into the ear canal, and the amount of medication can be slightly more each time (not overflowing out of the outer ear canal), 5~6 times a day. (5) In case of foreign bodies such as insects in the external ear canal, you can put ether alcohol or chloroform drops (not for those with tympanic membrane perforation) to make them anesthetized, or put vegetable oil drops to make them suffocate, and then flush them out or remove them. 2, nose, ear drops in the case of rhinitis and otitis media, often with some nasal drops and ear drops, such as furacilin ephedrine commonly used in nasal congestion, because it can make the nasal mucosa capillary constriction so that the swollen turbinate signal quickly shrink, the nasal cavity is soon smooth by the patient. So some patients will use this drug when there is a nasal blockage, in the long run, the sensitivity of the nasal mucosa to this drug decreases, and even cause capillary dilation, stimulate the increase in mucus secretion, and become drug rhinitis. Nasal drops must be used under the guidance of a doctor, and the medication should not be used continuously for more than a week. In the case of ear pus, some people listen to the so-called secret recipes of others and use traditional Chinese medicine or antibiotic tablets, or chemical drugs, blowing them into the ear or mixing them into a paste and dropping them into the ear, thinking that this can cure ear pus. On the contrary, the use of these drugs can cause painful flowing water in the lighter cases, dizziness, deafness and facial paralysis in the heavier cases, and in some cases, the pus cannot flow out smoothly to the inner ear or inside the skull, causing serious intracranial complications, such as brain abscess, meningitis, dizziness and facial paralysis. This is because most of these drugs are corrosive such as: arsenic (shinsei, arsenic), light powder, croton, potassium permanganate, etc. It is easy to damage the eardrum and even the inner ear. There are also many tablets of antibiotics that are not well soluble in water, which can easily cause poor drainage of pus and cause intracranial and extracranial complications. Therefore, ear drops should never be abused.
