Is burdock a Chinese medicine?

Burdock is the fruit and root of the burdock plant, family Asteraceae, which is divided into burdock seed and burdock root according to their different medicinal parts, both of which are traditional Chinese medicines. Burdock has the efficacy of dispersing wind-heat (dispersing wind-heat evils), promoting the lungs through the rash (by promoting the lungs to treat skin rashes), and dispersing knots and removing toxins (dispersing knots and removing toxins). It is clinically used in treating wind-heat colds (colds caused by the attack of wind-heat), headache, sore throat and mumps. This product is cold in nature, and should not be used by people with loose stools (thin and unformed feces). Burdock root has the effects of clearing heat and removing toxins (removing heat and toxins from the body), dispersing wind and relieving pharynx (dispersing wind to benefit the pharynx). It is used for wind-heat colds, coughs, sore throats, athlete’s foot, eczema and other conditions. Clinically, burdock is relatively more commonly used. If symptoms occur, it should be used under the diagnosis and treatment of a medical professional, and should not be applied on its own to avoid risks.
