Side effects of chemotherapy after breast cancer surgery

The side effects of post-operative chemotherapy for breast cancer have been widely used in clinical practice. The side effects of post-operative chemotherapy vary according to the drugs chosen, but most of them will include hair loss, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, constipation, aversion to oil, abnormal taste, and some patients may experience skin pigmentation and numbness in the limbs. The chance of side effects, type, and degree of reflection vary from patient to patient, so it is important to consult with a medical professional. If a patient experiences severe side effects, the dosage of the drug must be adjusted. In case of severe myelosuppression, the dosage has to be reduced or changed. Myelosuppression refers to a decrease in platelets, white blood cells and hemoglobin, which can be monitored and treated by weekly laboratory blood tests. Hepatic and renal impairment can be actively intervened and managed by laboratory tests of blood biochemistry and liver and kidney function.
