“Da Vinci robot is a powerful tool in genitourinary tumor surgical treatment

There are currently about 3,500 da Vinci surgical robotic systems in clinical use worldwide, with about 50 of them in use in mainland China. According to statistics, more than 570,000 surgeries were performed with the da Vinci robot worldwide in 2014, and it is estimated that more than 640,000 cases will be performed in 2015. The da Vinci robot is mainly used in urology, thoracic surgery, gynecology, hepatobiliary surgery, cardiac surgery and gastrointestinal surgery. 22,917 da Vinci robot surgeries were performed in mainland China from 2006 to December 2015, of which 9,316 were urological surgeries, and among the urological surgeries, the main ones were radical prostate cancer surgery, kidney cancer preserving kidney unit surgery and radical cystectomy for bladder cancer. This shows that the da Vinci robot has an important position in the surgical treatment of genitourinary tumors. There are currently three da Vinci robots in Guangdong Province, which are installed in the First Affiliated Hospital, Affiliated Cancer Hospital and Second Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. The da Vinci robot at the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was installed on January 4, 2016 and successfully performed radical prostate cancer surgery by Professor Zhou Fangjian, Director of the Department of Urology, on the same day. 20 cases including kidney cancer preserving surgery, radical prostate cancer surgery and radical pancreatic cancer surgery were successfully performed before the Spring Festival, with little intraoperative bleeding and no blood transfusion, and no all cases got out of bed on the first day after surgery and all recovered well All of them recovered well. The da Vinci Surgical Robot System is the crystallization of modern high-tech technology, which breaks through the limitations of the surgeon’s naked eye and hand to make minimally invasive surgical procedures precise. It consists of three components: the surgeon’s operating system, the table-side robotic arm system, and the video processing system. The video processing system provides high-definition three-dimensional video with 10-15 times magnification, which can transcend the limitations of the naked eye and make the surgical field clearer and the surgeon’s operation more precise. The robotic arm system has 7 degrees of freedom, and the surgical instruments can simulate the flexible operation of the human wrist, which can be operated in a narrow space that cannot be reached by human hands, surpassing the limitations of human hands and filtering out the trembling of human hands during the operation. With the development of China’s economy, more da Vinci surgical robotic surgical systems will be introduced, which will greatly promote the progress of China’s surgery, especially oncology surgery, and improve the treatment effect of oncology surgery.
