Hydronephrosis of both kidneys needs to be treated on a case-by-case basis. Generally, there are several ways of treatment, such as nephron puncture drainage, cystoscopy drainage of urine, dialysis, nephrectomy and so on.
1. Drainage: If the condition is critical, percutaneous nephronepuncture fistula can be performed under ultrasound guidance for the purpose of drainage of urine, which is beneficial to the control of infection and improvement of renal function. It is also possible to place double J tube through cystoscopy for long-term internal drainage of renal pelvic urine, which can achieve the purpose of protecting renal function.
2. Dialysis: If azotemia or uremia occurs, if it is not life-threatening, the urine needs to be drained first; if creatinine doesn’t decrease after drainage and obvious hyperkalemia occurs, dialysis treatment should be carried out.
3. Nephrectomy: severe hydronephrosis, significant destruction of renal parenchyma, atrophy, causing renal hypertension, combined with infection, etc., and serious loss of renal function. If physical conditions permit, the kidney can be removed.
If there are two hydronephrosis, you need to seek medical treatment as soon as possible in regular hospitals and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment, so as to avoid causing serious complications.
