What is a bilateral temporomandibular joint capsule avulsion?

Common causes of bilateral TMJ capsular avulsion include congenital factors, habitual factors and trauma.
1. Congenital factors: because of the natural anatomy of the joint nodule is too high or the joint nodule anterior oblique face is too steep, easy to occur temporomandibular joint dislocation. If the joint capsule or ligament is lax, recurrent joint dislocation is easy to occur.
2. Habitual factors: such as yawning, singing, opening the mouth too wide, contraction of the extra-pterygoid muscle, pushing the condyle excessively to the anterior and superior part of the joint nodes, resulting in tearing off the capsule of the temporomandibular joint.
3. Trauma: Bilateral temporomandibular joint avulsion can also be caused when external force is applied to the joints or the mandible, especially the chin when the mouth is open.
There may be other reasons for bilateral temporomandibular joint avulsion, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and standardize the treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
