Medicines for vocal cord paralysis

Vocal cord paralysis may be caused by tumors of the esophagus, thyroid, cranium, brain, and head and neck; it may also be caused by infections, etc., which need to be treated with medications (e.g., cyclophosphamide, penicillin, ganciclovir, etc.) and surgical treatments depending on the cause of the disease. There is no medicine for vocal cord paralysis. 1. Esophageal, craniocerebral and thyroid tumors: Vocal cord paralysis caused by laryngeal motor nerve paralysis due to tumor metastasis, chemotherapeutic drugs, such as cyclophosphamide and methotrexate can be given to inhibit the proliferation of cancerous cells and to reduce the pressure on the nerves. 2. Infectious factors: Infection can cause paralysis of supraglottic nerve or recurrent laryngeal nerve, which can lead to vocal cord paralysis. If it is bacterial infection, antibiotics can be given, such as penicillin, amoxicillin and other anti-infection treatments; if it is caused by viral infection, entecavir and ganciclovir can be given to control the infection and reduce the edema symptoms. 3. Head and neck tumor: Vocal cord paralysis caused by primary tumor or secondary tumor compressing nerves in head and neck, need to treat the primary disease, give surgical resection, and then clear the lymph nodes. Vocal cord paralysis, need to find out the cause of the disease, follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment, do not self-medication, so as not to delay the condition.
