What to do if your field of vision gets smaller after retinal detachment surgery

Smaller field of vision after retinal detachment surgery may be caused by retinal edema, involvement of the macula and so on. It usually requires slow recovery and timely checkup in the hospital. After retinal surgery, due to the ring ligation and local pressure during the surgery may cause some impact on the retina, retinal edema occurs, which leads to the patient’s field of vision becoming smaller. In addition, if the surgical procedure affects the flatness of the retina, causing lesions in the macular region, the vision may also become smaller and distorted. Patients can not worry too much first, make sure to have enough rest time, do not use the eyes excessively, also avoid heavy physical labor and strenuous activities, so as not to detach the retina again. If after a period of rest, the symptoms of small visual field still exist or even aggravated phenomenon, we should consult a doctor in time for examination, and if necessary, need to be treated again.
