Glutamine has a role in the treatment of ulcerative colitis, but is not a key drug.
Its main function of glutamine is to protect the gastrointestinal mucosa, and it is effective in the management, treatment and reduction of inflammatory reactions to mucosal lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. It can be used for acute and chronic intestinal diseases and intestinal dysfunction caused by different reasons, as well as to promote the recovery of intestinal mucosa and function.
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic non-specific inflammatory disease with lesions in the mucosa and submucosa of the large intestine, and glutamine can promote the repair of the intestinal mucosa, so it has a certain therapeutic effect on this disease. However, this drug alone cannot effectively treat ulcerative colitis, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as mesalazine, budesonide, azathioprine or immunosuppressants should also be used.
It should be noted that glutamine is metabolized by the liver and kidneys, so glutamine should be contraindicated in patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency, and should be used with caution in children, pregnant and lactating women. Adverse reactions such as rash, nausea, abdominal pain and bloating may occur after application of this drug.
This drug should be applied under medical supervision. If ulcerative colitis exists, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible for regular treatment with the help of a doctor and do not use the drug on your own.
