Sperm motility is a routine semen test that reflects the motility of the sperm, with 71% being a normal value. According to the World Health Organization Safety Manual for the Examination and Processing of Human Semen, 5th edition, sperm motility is categorized into three levels: forward-moving, non-forward-moving and immobile sperm. Forward-moving sperm should be greater than 32%, and the sum of forward-moving and non-forward-moving sperm should be greater than 40%, with either of these two conditions indicating normal sperm motility. Therefore, 71% sperm motility is within the normal range. Male pregnancy preparation should not only look at sperm vitality, but also semen volume, sperm density, sperm survival rate, sperm deformity rate and so on. If there exists a case of infertility despite normal sperm vitality in men, it is necessary to go to the hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
