There are many possible causes of significant pressure pain in the eye. First, it is important to determine whether the pain is in the eyelid, the eyeball, or the orbital area. If it is a small bump with significant pressure on the eyelid, it is usually considered to be caused by blepharitis, which is a disease that results from a decrease in self resistance and a bacterial infection later. Most patients will have localized redness and swelling, and the symptoms may become more pronounced, with the possibility of a white pustular manifestation. If there is significant pressure and pain in the eye, it is important to first rule out pain on the ocular surface caused by foreign body residue, such as conjunctival foreign body and corneal foreign body. If there is significant redness, pain, or loss of vision in the eye, it may also be keratitis, acute iridocyclitis, or glaucoma. If there is significant pressure pain in the orbit, it may be caused by diseases such as supraorbital neuralgia, ocular optic strain, or retrobulbar optic neuritis.
