What’s wrong with sleeping with a numb arm?

Sleeping always arm numbness may be related to physiological factors, such as sleeping posture problems, but also may be related to pathological factors, such as cervical spine disease, diabetes peripheral neuropathy.
1. Physiological factors: if you sleep for a long time on one side of the arm, it will make the arm for a long time compressed, resulting in poor local blood circulation, thus causing numbness.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) cervical spine disease: cervical intervertebral disc and intervertebral joint degenerative changes can involve the cervical nerve root, and root compression or irritation may occur, resulting in symptoms such as radiating numbness and pain in the upper limbs, which may also be accompanied by upper limb heaviness, neck and shoulder pain and other symptoms.
(2) Diabetic peripheral neuropathy: diabetes can cause peripheral neuropathy with sensory and autonomic symptoms, patients may have a variety of manifestations such as muscle weakness, muscle atrophy, sensory abnormalities, and may have numbness in the arm while sleeping.
Sleeping always arm numbness, after excluding physiological causes, if the long-term non-relief or numbness symptoms worsen, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to see a doctor, give targeted treatment after clarifying the cause of the disease.
