A child’s poor grades may be due to intellectual problems, but not always due to intellectual problems. Poor grades may be due to the child’s lack of interest in learning, or failure to master the correct learning methods. There is no necessary relationship between a child’s grades and his or her intelligence. If parents want to know whether there is any problem with their child’s intelligence, it is recommended that they take their child to a regular hospital to have his or her intelligence tested. If the child’s intelligence is within the normal range, then the child’s poor grades are not the result of an IQ problem. If the child’s intelligence is within the normal range, the child’s poor grades are not caused by an IQ problem. Poor grades may be caused by factors such as a lack of interest in learning or the wrong approach. However, if the child has cerebral palsy or congenital stupidity, the child’s intelligence will be lower than that of children of the same age, thus affecting the child’s ability to learn and leading to poor academic performance. Therefore, it is important to find out the cause of a child’s poor academic performance and not to arbitrarily assume that the child is mentally challenged.
