What does a head ct reveal?

Cranial CT can usually detect skull fracture, craniocerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, cerebral atrophy, craniocerebral tumors and so on.
1. Cranial fracture and craniocerebral hematoma: CT is the most important imaging examination in craniocerebral trauma, it is suitable for diagnosing cranial fracture, especially depressed fracture and skull base fracture, it has high sensitivity to fresh hemorrhage, and it can show edema and increased intracranial pressure secondary to cerebral herniation and other important lesions, it can distinguish the size, morphology, scope, number of hematoma and its neighboring cerebral tissues in the situation of compression.
2. Craniocerebral tumor: it can clearly show the number, size, outline, density, intra-tumor hemorrhage, calcification and degree of diffusion of intracranial tumor.
3. Cerebral hemorrhage: it can locate and diagnose the location of cerebral hemorrhage, qualify the bleeding volume, and guide the treatment and prognosis of cerebral hemorrhage.
4. Cerebral infarction: early visualization of cerebral infarction is not good, but it can help identify cerebral hemorrhage in the early stage, and cerebral infarction can be visualized on craniocerebral CT after 12-24 hours.
5. Others: It can be used for the diagnosis of cerebral softening, cerebral atrophy, hydrocephalus, cerebral edema and cerebral penetrating malformation.
If there is a need for cranial CT examination, please visit the hospital in time for the physician to rule out contraindications and assess whether it is feasible for further treatment.
