The causes of hand tremor in 50-year-old patients are considered as follows: 1. Consider that it is caused by physiological factors, such as many people are prone to hand tremor under emotional tension and stress. 2. Consider that it is caused by idiopathic tremor disease if the patient simply has hand tremor, which is manifested as intentional tremor and motor tremor. 2/3 of patients with idiopathic tremor will have a family history, and the symptoms will improve if the patient takes propranolol or drinks a small amount of alcohol. 3. If the patient exhibits subtle tremor in both hands, accompanied by panic, palpitations, short temper and easy anger, it is considered to be caused by hyperthyroidism, which can be clarified by doing serum thyroid function test. 4. If the patient is a sudden tremor in one hand, accompanied by rubbing mud pill-like changes, and the patient exhibits increased muscle tone, it is considered to be caused by Parkinson’s disease.
