What is the pain in the front of the sole of the foot when pressed?

The common cause of pain on the front of the foot is metatarsalgia. Metatarsalgia is a strain on the transverse arch of the forefoot that causes forefoot pain, and the cause is related to the outward angulation of the first metatarsal, injury or degenerative changes to the first metatarsophalangeal joint, and the lateral displacement of the metatarsals. Women wear high heels for a long time, which can make the negative focus on the forefoot, resulting in weak intrinsic foot muscles and limited function of the middle and hind foot, so women are more likely to suffer from metatarsalgia. The clinical manifestations include pain in the metatarsophalangeal joint during walking, swelling and local pressure pain, pain relief after lifting the foot, bunion deformity and callus. Treatment includes wearing orthopedic shoes, padding the transverse arch of the foot, training the strength of the inner foot muscles, and excision of hypertrophic calluses.
