People with a cold-biased constitution have symptoms such as cold hands and feet, fear of cold, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. They can use yang tonic herbs to make tea and drink in moderation to regulate their condition, such as tonic bone resin and ginseng. Bone-setting herb has the effects of warming the kidneys to support yang (warming and tonifying the yang energy of the kidneys), warming the spleen to stop diarrhea (relieving diarrhea by warming the spleen), and absorbing qi and calming wheezing (astringing the qi to alleviate coughing and wheezing). It can be used in cases of kidney yang deficiency, such as enuresis and frequent urination; or diarrhea due to spleen and kidney yang deficiency (deficiency of yang qi in the spleen and kidneys), such as diarrhea in the morning; or wheezing due to failure of the kidneys to collect qi (dysfunction of the kidneys, which prevents them from incorporating qi), such as cough and wheeze with shortness of breath. Note that, because of the warming effect of tonifying bone marrow and the Chinese herbs used in combination, it is contraindicated in people with yin deficiency and fire (deficiency of yin essence in the body, resulting in hyperactive fire) and those with dry stools. Ginseng is sweet and warm, which can generate yang qi, and has the effects of tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the root qi of the body), tonifying the spleen and lungs (tonifying the spleen and lungs), generating fluids, and tranquilizing the spirit and benefiting the intellect (stabilizing the mind and promoting intellectual development). It can be used for treating qi deficiency, pulse weakness, spleen qi insufficiency, central qi subsidence (deficiency of spleen and stomach qi, which results in the fall of internal organs), lung deficiency, asthma and cough, shortness of breath and fatigue, thirst due to fluid injury, thirst due to deficiency of heat, insomnia and forgetfulness, palpitations (accelerated heartbeat often accompanied by panic attacks), palpitation (intense heartbeat, panic), blood deficiency, yellowish blood, and impotence, and uterine coldness. Note that the efficacy of herbal infusions is not as effective as internal Chinese medicine soup, if the symptoms of body cold are obvious, it is recommended that the doctor for comprehensive treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
