Hai Feng Teng is pungent, bitter and slightly warm in nature; it belongs to the liver meridian. It has the efficacy of dispelling wind-dampness and relieving pain. The main treatment of wind-cold-dampness paralysis (due to wind-cold-dampness three qi mixed to, so that stagnation of qi and blood caused by body weight and pain, limb contracture, or numbness of the hands and feet, etc.), bruises, coughing and chest tightness, phlegm and shortness of breath.
Clinically, for the treatment of bruises, stasis and pain, Hai Feng Teng can be paired with Panax ginseng, Turbellariae, Saffron and so on.
Pregnant women should not take Hai Feng Teng. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Hai Feng Teng are not clear.
