The main thing to look for in liver function is whether or not there is an increase in glutamic aminotransferase or glutamic oxalacetic aminotransferase, but generally speaking, you don’t look for a decrease. Like a slightly low glutathione aminotransferase, which is a normal result of the liver. There is, of course, another condition that is abnormal. That is, if there is significant liver failure, if there is significant cirrhosis of the liver, glutathione is often low. The reason is that glutathione is a substance inside the liver cells, and if there is a large necrosis of the liver, it is not easy to form glutathione. If there is a large amount of necrosis, the condition is very serious and will often show obvious clinical symptoms. If glutathione is low, but the person’s mental state is normal, then this is the normal result.
