Is circumferential enhancement usually malignant?

Circumferential enhancement is a descriptive statement commonly used in imaging examinations when doing enhancement scans. It indicates a ring of contrast concentration around the lesion, suggesting a richer blood supply to the area, which is a sign of tumor. Most of the brain tumors are malignant, except meningiomas. It should be noted that some inflammatory or infectious diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, encephalitis, and brain abscess, may also show enhancement of the lesion. Specific diagnosis of whether the patient is a malignant tumor requires further pathological examination to confirm the diagnosis.
