Polyp, refers to the epithelial or mucosal surface of the growth of superfluous organisms, in general, no fixed shape, the shape can be varied, most of the manifestations of hemispherical or finger-shaped, but also can be manifested as bulb-shaped, mycotic umbrella, cauliflower-shaped and so on.
Generally, polyps are soft, reddish or white in color, and bleed easily. On the basis of long-term chronic infection, it can be induced by physical and chemical stimulation, and it is also related to heredity, immunity, endocrine disorders and so on. Most of them are benign lesions and can be cured after surgical removal.
Polyps themselves are signs and can occur in any part of the body, such as intestinal polyps, nasal polyps, cervical polyps and so on. Usually, they are just superfluous swellings on the surface of human tissues, and patients may have no conscious symptoms. However, if the polyps are multiple or large in size, they may cause symptoms due to pressure and obstruction of the surrounding tissues or organs. Some polyps have a certain risk of malignant transformation.
