Azithromycin, in children, is usually infused for 3-5 days, most commonly for 5 days. Azithromycin is commonly used to treat mycoplasma or chlamydia infections and, along with erythromycin, belongs to the macrolide group of drugs. When a mycoplasma or chlamydia infection is present, it needs to be treated with azithromycin, usually after 5 days of sedation, which needs to be stopped for 3-4 days before a 2nd course of azithromycin infusion. Generally the course of treatment for mycoplasma pneumonia is longer, need to be treated for 2-3 weeks, so Azithromycin needs to be sedated 2-3 times. However, it should be noted that the side effect of azithromycin is a heavier gastrointestinal reaction, because the half-life is longer, so be careful about the gastrointestinal reaction when sedation.
