What happened to the foreskin retraction

Foreskin retraction is generally a normal phenomenon because the skin of the penis and scrotum is very stretchy and its expansion and contraction is mainly regulated by the ambient temperature. When the ambient temperature decreases the organism will contract the skin of the penis and scrotum in order to keep warm. From the appearance of its skin will be gathered and folded to form a retracted appearance, the most obvious when taking a cold shower. When the ambient temperature increases, its skin expands and the folds disappear in favor of the body’s heat dissipation. This stretching is characteristic of the skin of the penis and scrotum, and the length of the penis itself is not affected. Foreskin retraction is also seen in certain abnormalities, such as penile atrophy and occult penis. In the former, the atrophy of the penile skin shows progressive hardening changes, which TCM believes may be related to damage to the internal essence and loss of nourishment of the external kidneys. The latter is a congenital malformation in which there are striated fibers and increased fleshy membranes under the skin, resulting in a restricted development of the penis and thus a retracted foreskin in appearance.
