Symptoms and treatment of atrophic rhinitis (odoriferous rhinitis)

  Atrophic rhinitis (odorous rhinitis) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by atrophy or degeneration of the nasal mucosa and is a chronic nasal disease that develops very slowly.
  I. Characteristics.
  Atrophy of the nasal mucosa, loss or disappearance of the sense of smell, multiple scab formation in the nasal cavity, and in severe cases, atrophy of the periosteum and bone of the turbinates also occurs. Mucosal atrophy may progress to nasopharynx, oropharynx, laryngopharynx, etc.
  II. Etiology.
  Primary and secondary
  1.Primary: It is a local manifestation of systemic diseases
  2.Secondary.
  (1) Chronic rhinitis, nasal tumors and other surgical removal of the turbinates too much, tissue damage is serious.
  (2) When chronic rhinitis or chronic sinusitis
  (3) Local long-term stimulation by harmful dust and gas
  (4) Special infectious diseases
  (5) Chronic hypertrophic rhinitis in advanced stage.
  III. Symptoms
  1.Dryness of nose and nasopharynx

  IV. Treatment.
  No special treatment, there are local and systemic comprehensive treatment

  2, systemic treatment: such as vitamins, vasodilators.
  3.Surgical treatment: submucosal osteotomy, anterior nostril reduction.
