What are the symptoms of atrophic rhinitis?

  1.Self-perceived dryness of the nose and nasopharynx, sticky nasal secretions, not easy to discharge. There are often scabs in the nose, sometimes with blood or nasal bleeding.  2.Nasal congestion.  3.Headache mainly in frontal, temporal and occipital pain, with dizziness.  4.Loss of sense of smell and bad breath odor, often not felt by the patient, but easily detected by those in contact, the odor is more serious during menstruation in women.  5.Involving the throat, trachea and eustachian tube, dry throat, itchy and painful throat, dry cough, hoarse voice, tinnitus and hearing loss may occur.  6.A few patients have a special shape of the nose, such as low nasal tip, flattened anterior nostril, nasal wing exostosis, and saddle nose may appear in childhood patients.  7.The nasal cavity is wide and the nasal turbinates are narrowed (the lower turbinates are obvious); a large amount of thick yellow-green or gray-green secretions accumulate in the nasal cavity and a large amount of scabs are attached to the mucous membrane, and the scabs have a special foul smell.  8.After removing the dry nasal crust, the mucosa under the crust is dry and red, and bleeds easily when touched.  9.The mucosa of the posterior pharyngeal wall is dry and loses its normal moistening, with pus crust attached to it. The larynx may have the same changes.
