What is the prognosis for nephrotic syndrome?

The prognosis of some patients with nephrotic syndrome is better and some patients have poorer prognosis, which is mainly closely related to factors such as pathologic type, clinical manifestation, hormonal treatment effect and complications, and there are large individual differences. 1. Pathologic type: microlesion nephropathy and mild membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis have a better prognosis, while membranocapillary nephritis, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and severe membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis have a worse prognosis. Early membranous nephropathy also has a certain rate of remission, while late stage is difficult to remission. 2. Clinical manifestations: the prognosis of those with large amount of proteinuria, severe hypertension and renal function impairment is poor. 3. Hormone therapy effect: hormone sensitive patients have relatively good prognosis, hormone resistant patients have poor prognosis. 4. Complications: the prognosis is poor for those who have recurrent infections leading to frequent relapses of nephrotic syndrome. It is suggested that patients with nephrotic syndrome should consult the doctor in time, follow the doctor’s instructions, adjust daily habits, pay attention to rest, prevent infection, moderate activities, combine work and rest, and maintain a balanced diet.
