Treatment of pigmented moles!!!

For pigmented nevi on the jaw, doctors are concerned about malignancy, but patients are more concerned about aesthetics! They often ask what kind of treatment can reduce the scar! Liu Gangli, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Shandong University Stomatological Hospital, many patients think that the scar can be smaller by using liquid nitrogen or strong alkali, but it is not! Liquid nitrogen and strong alkali are only suitable for superficial, light-colored and small pigmented moles! For deeper pigmented moles, if the dots are shallow, they will easily recur, and if they are deep, they will easily have a scar – a pit! In fact, doctors prefer to use surgical excision method, which is more thorough, without stimulation, and can do pathological examination after excision. The scar is much smaller with 5-0 or 7-0 fine sutures than with other methods! One thing that should be taken very seriously in surgical excision is that the size of the scar is closely related to the tension of the incision! If it is a relatively large pigmented mole and the skin is tight, the mole should be removed with a flap turn to reduce the tension! For particularly large pigmented nevi, a soft tissue skin expander can be used preoperatively – it usually takes three months to expand the skin and, of course, to reduce the tension! For pigmented nevus patients must avoid repeated stimulation, which can easily become malignant, and must be removed early if it grows on a part that is often stimulated by clothes. For nevi, they are less prone to malignancy because their developmental differentiation is more mature!
