How to take care of atopic dermatitis?

Recently, I have seen many children with atopic dermatitis coming to the clinic, and their parents are very anxious and anxious, because these children have severe itching, recurrent attacks, poor sleep and concentration, which affects their quality of life. As a mother, I feel the same way when I see every cute baby suffering from the disease. The etiology of atopic dermatitis is complex. It is generally believed that the barrier function of the skin is damaged in a genetic background, resulting in an inflammatory reaction of the skin. Some parents have allergic constitutions such as allergic rhinitis and asthma, so the main treatment plan for this disease is topical anti-inflammatory drugs plus moisturizers to maintain the barrier function of the skin. Here I would like to answer some of the questions parents often ask about what I have learned. 1. Can atopic dermatitis be cured? The principle of treatment for atopic dermatitis is to restore the normal barrier function of the skin and to find and remove triggering or aggravating factors to reduce symptoms. As the child grows, the condition will also improve to some extent. (So parents should have confidence, no one can say that the cold is cured for life without recurrence! No need to be too anxious.) 2.What tests do I need to do? Some children with atopic dermatitis are allergic to milk proteins, so we can choose some hydrolyzed milk powder, or breastfeeding children are allergic to certain foods, so the mother should also avoid contact with these foods, and add complementary foods slowly and gradually. Also need to test eosinophils and total IgE, 70% of patients the index may be abnormal, so it is very necessary to do the relevant tests. 3.What is the best medicine to use? Why do I relapse when I stop taking the medication? Topical hormones are the first line of medication (according to international treatment guidelines), and combined with moisturizers to treat atopic dermatitis is effective. Many parents are afraid of hormones and do not dare to use more, and stop the medication when the baby gets a little better. Whether to use or reduce the dosage, from twice a day to once a day, once every two days, etc. It is up to the doctor to decide whether to stop the medication, or to replace it with weaker hormones, or to replace it with non-hormones, in short, the treatment must be regular. 4.How should I take care of it in general? What do I have to pay attention to? Is it impossible to take a bath? According to our clinical observation, the regularity of parental care for children is one of the main reasons to determine the effectiveness of the disease, occupying a considerable proportion, if strictly in accordance with the regular care method, can greatly reduce the recurrence of the disease. The atopic dermatitis child is afraid of heat, afraid of dryness, so winter heavy, summer light, especially in the north, home if the heating is too hot to keep the indoor temperature and humidity appropriate, open the windows to ventilate, you can choose the humidifier, mopping with a wet mop, northern rural areas if the family with a hot bed is not suitable for children, atopic dermatitis child to wear thin than other children, sleep to cover some thin quilt, sweating will also stimulate the skin. In addition, the child’s clothes must be pure cotton, cuffs do not elastic, do not wear a one-piece, that is, to loose breathable soft clothes. Atopic dermatitis children’s skin barrier function is not good, easy to dry, so the most important thing is to pay attention to moisturizing! So can you take a bath? The answer is absolutely yes! Bathing can cleanse the skin to reduce secondary infections, increase skin hydration, and facilitate transdermal absorption of medications. Bathing ( 1-2 ) times a day, bathing is recommended: the water temperature of 38 ℃ is appropriate, 5-10 minutes, the best use of water rinse, no body wash, no rubbing, if necessary, you can use a mild detergent PH 5.5-6.0, after the bath need to pat the skin with a soft towel to make it dry rather than dry to avoid aggravating skin damage. Apply moisturizer immediately when it is not completely dry to lock in moisture, and then apply topical ointment to areas with skin lesions, as long as the skin is slightly dry, so you can apply topical cream several times a day. Now is the season of spring, it is also the season of allergic disease recovery, at the same time, atopic dermatitis children are also increasing day by day, but also please parents of children to protect their children, avoid contact with allergens, the condition of the repeated please immediately seek medical advice, the above views if there are mistakes please correct me! Thank you!
