Osteochondroses are hyperplastic growths around normal bone structures, mainly due to overloading, overactivity, and trauma. Patients may experience localized swelling and bulging, with a few patients experiencing no symptoms, and in severe cases, pain and limitation of movement around the joint. In severe cases, pain and limitation of movement around the joint may also occur. If the bone capsule grows inside the joint, it may affect the flexion and extension of the joint, and lead to narrowing of the range of joint movement. Therefore, once the diagnosis of bone metaplasia is confirmed, the decision to treat or not should be based on the clinical symptoms. If there are no clinical symptoms, treatment is usually not necessary. If clinical symptoms develop, surgical treatment is required. Surgery includes both incision and minimally invasive surgery, which can completely remove the bone cap and relieve the patient’s clinical symptoms.
