At the age of 8, children with normal visual acuity of 1.0 in both eyes are considered to have normal visual acuity of 0.8 or above, as the eye structures are basically fully developed by the time the child reaches 8 years of age.
However, if the vision of an 8-year-old child is less than 0.8 in one eye, or the difference between the two eyes is 2 or more rows on the visual acuity chart, it is considered abnormal vision, and parents should pay attention to it and bring it to a regular ophthalmologist for treatment and intervention in a timely manner.
In daily life, parents can cultivate children to develop good eye habits, such as reading books between the eyes and the book as far as possible to maintain at about 30cm, learning, reading the light source as far as possible to use eye protection and warm light, pay attention to let the child work and rest, appropriate use of the eyes after resting for a few moments to relax the eyes, to alleviate visual fatigue.
Parents are advised to take their children for regular eye checkups to ensure that their vision is developing at a normal level. If vision abnormalities occur, deal with them as soon as possible.
