Adrenocorticotropic hormone, also known as ACTH, is a peptide hormone secreted by the adrenal pituitary gland, which mainly acts on the adrenal cortex to promote the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone and regulates the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone through the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal gland. The danger of low adrenocorticotropic hormone is related to the cause of low adrenocorticotropic hormone, which is mainly divided into the following two cases: i. Hypopituitarism, low adrenocorticotropic hormone may be related to pituitary lesions, which reduce adrenocorticotropic hormone secretion, secondary hyperalgesia, blood pressure, low blood sugar, poor stress capacity, cold, infection and other symptoms, and in severe cases, the occurrence of Adrenocortical function crisis, which needs active management. Second, Cushing’s syndrome, with low adrenal hormone, may be the result of excessive secretion of cortisol by the adrenal cortex and feedback inhibition of the pituitary gland, manifested as low ACTH and high cortisol, mostly seen in adrenal gland diseases, such as adrenal adenoma and hyperplasia. Clinical manifestations of Cushing’s syndrome with symptoms of full moon face, buffalo back, centripetal obesity, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus appear correspondingly harmful.
