How to treat a child’s cough with lung fever

It is a cough caused by wind-heat or wind-cold that causes heat in the lungs and loss of lung qi. In such cases, it is necessary to take medication in a timely manner, and in serious cases, it is necessary to send the child to the hospital for systematic treatment after examination and diagnosis. Conditions that can be observed first and not rushed to the hospital: cough with a lot of phlegm, but no fever and good spirits; or only occasional cough in the morning and slight cough after breakfast; or good spirits although coughing and burning, etc. The above conditions are mostly caused by lung fire. Parents need not worry too much when they encounter the above situations, they can relieve the symptoms through medication. Parents can use Chinese herbs that clear heat and phlegm and treat recurrent coughs, such as honeysuckle, forsythia, Zhi Mu, scutellaria and panax quinquefolium, to help their babies completely clear the lung fire. Situations that require medical attention as soon as possible: high fever, coughing with wheezing; a child with a bad complexion, appearing purple or breathing faster, plus aspiration when the chest wall is depressed; a child who suddenly has a very bad cough and has difficulty breathing, possibly with a foreign body blocking the trachea, etc. The above situations can be dangerous and prompt hospital treatment is recommended. On the whole, lung fever cough in children is a very common disease that can be treated with medication in mild cases and requires timely hospital treatment in severe cases.
