Symptoms of chronic cerebral ischemia

Depending on the extent and severity of cerebral ischemia, it causes different symptoms. If chronic cerebral ischemia is caused by cerebral arteriosclerosis and cerebral infarction due to diabetes and hypertension, patients will have dizziness and grogginess accompanied by memory loss and slow reaction. Some patients are also prone to sleep disorders, and will have increased muscle tone and postural incoordination. In case of extensive cerebral cortical ischemia caused by ischemic-hypoxic encephalopathy, then besides memory loss and limb incoordination and tremor, some patients will also have focal seizures or persistent status epilepticus, and some patients will also have psychiatric symptoms. In conclusion, the symptoms of chronic cerebral ischemia are determined by the location and severity of cerebral ischemia.
