Western medicines for edema

Edema is caused by excessive retention of fluid in the interstitial space of tissue cells. Common therapeutic drugs include diuretics, anti-allergic drugs, and immunosuppressive drugs. 1. Diuretics: It is a commonly used drug for treating various kinds of edema, including furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, spironolactone and so on. It can promote the discharge of fluid from the tissues by increasing urination. 2. Anti-allergic drugs: allergy-induced tissue edema, the symptoms can be gradually relieved and disappear after active anti-allergic treatment by drugs. Commonly used drugs include cetirizine, loratadine and so on. 3. Immunosuppressive drugs: commonly used glucocorticosteroids, such as prednisolone, have anti-inflammatory and anti-immune effects, and have a certain therapeutic effect on nephrotic syndrome and other diseases causing nephrogenic edema. Immunosuppressants such as cyclophosphamide have a strong immunosuppressive effect. Clinically, if patients have persistent or frequent edema, they should seek medical attention to find out the cause and then actively treat it. The use of drugs must follow the doctor’s instructions, not blindly use their own drugs, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
