Common causes of umbilical cord wrapping include too long umbilical cord, frequent fetal movement, too small fetus, and too much amniotic fluid.
1. Excessive length of umbilical cord: The normal umbilical cord is usually 30~70 centimeters. When the umbilical cord is too long, when the fetus is moving in the uterus, the excessively long umbilical cord is easy to be wrapped around the neck of the fetus.
2. Frequent fetal movement: When the fetus moves very frequently in the uterus, it will increase the probability of the umbilical cord wrapping around the neck.
3. Fetus is too small: when the fetus is too small, it has more space to move around in the uterus, and it is easy for the umbilical cord to be wrapped around the neck when it moves around.
4. Excessive amniotic fluid: Excessive amniotic fluid will lead to more space for the fetus to move in the uterus, and the fetus will move freely, which will increase the probability of umbilical cord around the neck.
Mothers need to have regular checkups, and when the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck, they need to follow the doctor’s instructions for relevant treatment.
