Ginseng is generally Nansha Ginseng, which is the dried root of the plant Verticillium or Ginseng in the family of Platycodonaceae; Dangshen is the dried root of the plant Dangshen in the family of Platycodonaceae, Vegetable Dangshen, or Chuan Dangshen.
In terms of medicinal properties, Nansha Ginseng is sweet and slightly cold, and belongs to the lung and stomach meridians, while Codonopsis pilosula is sweet and flat, and belongs to the spleen and lung meridians.
In terms of efficacy and indications, Radix Panax Ginseng has the effects of clearing lung and nourishing yin, resolving phlegm, benefiting the stomach and promoting the production of fluid and qi. It can be used in the treatment of poor appetite and vomiting, deficiency of stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), vexation (irritability and sullenness), dry mouth, deficiency of qi and yin, lung-heat and dry cough, dry cough and phlegm mucus, and coughing with deficiency of yin.
Radix Panax Ginseng is beneficial to the lungs and spleen, nourishes blood and generates body fluid, and can be used in the treatment of deficiency of qi and blood, dizziness and weakness, yellowish color, deficiency of spleen and lung qi, and lack of food and tiredness.
Nansha Ginseng should not be used with quinoa, the adverse effect is not clear; Codonopsis pilosula should not be used with quinoa, the adverse effect is not clear. Please do not use the drug by yourself, under the guidance of a doctor.
