Ophiopogon, umeboshi and tangerine peel are all Chinese herbs. 1. Ophiopogon: sweet, slightly bitter, slightly cold in nature; attributed to the heart, lung and stomach meridians. It has the effects of benefiting the stomach and generating fluids, nourishing yin and moistening the lung, clearing the heart and removing vexation. It is used for stomach yin deficiency (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by excessive eating, drinking and urination), yin deficiency and labor coughing, heartburn and insomnia.
Spleen and stomach cold, loose food (feces thin and not shaped), as well as external wind-cold, phlegm-damp cough should not be taken.
2. Ume: sour, astringent, flat; to the liver, spleen, lung, large intestine meridian. With astringent lung, fluid, astringent intestines, the efficacy of roundworm, used for lung deficiency cough, deficiency heat and thirst, long diarrhea and dysentery, roundworm vomiting and abdominal pain. It is not suitable for those who have superficial evils (evils on the surface of the muscle) or solid heat and stagnation inside.
3. Chenpi: bitter, pungent flavor, warm nature; attributed to the spleen, lung meridian. It has the effect of regulating qi, strengthening spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm, and is used for spleen and stomach qi stagnation, dampness obstruction of abdominal distension and fullness, poor food and vomiting, eructation (hiccups), vomiting, dampness and phlegm, cold phlegm, and thoracic paralysis (stuffy pain in the chest), etc. It is not recommended for people with solid heat inside, red tongue and little heat. Caution should be exercised if there is solid heat within the body and the tongue is red with little fluid.
