What causes snoring?

Snoring is a kind of snoring sound caused by the vibration of pharyngeal mucous membrane edge and mucous membrane surface secretion during the passage of airflow in the upper respiratory tract during sleep, which may be caused by physiological factors, such as pregnancy, etc., or pathological factors, such as acute rhinitis, central nervous system diseases, pharyngeal tumors, etc.
1. Physiological reasons: during pregnancy, the level of estrogen in women’s body increases, which will lead to edema and narrowing of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, which may lead to women’s breathlessness, and then lead to the symptom of snoring.
2. Pathological causes:
(1) Acute rhinitis: this disease will lead to nasal mucosal congestion, edema, nasal resistance increases, etc., which can cause nose ventilation obstacles, sleep may need to open the mouth to breathe, airflow vibration of the soft palate, so the symptoms of snoring.
(2) Central nervous disease: central nervous disease snoring is characterized by persistence, central snoring is mainly due to the central nervous system of the brain affected by unknown factors, or due to cerebral spasm and other factors, causing the upper airway muscles uncontrolled relaxation, collapse, thus causing sleep apnea.
(3) Tumor in pharynx: patients with tumor in pharynx, due to long-term stimulation of tumor, the soft palate is also congested, swollen and thickened, and the uvula becomes thicker and longer, all of which will make the pharynx narrower and increase the resistance to the respiratory airflow, which will lead to snoring symptoms and seriously cause apnea or suffocation.
If you feel unwell, you should go to the hospital in time to avoid delay.
