Can polycystic ovaries heal themselves through exercise?

Polycystic ovaries do not heal themselves with exercise and must be treated with medication or surgery. Polycystic ovaries is a metabolic disease and there is no cure. Obesity is one of the manifestations of polycystic ovaries. Exercise can enhance cardiopulmonary function, improve the endocrine system, bring the secretion system back to normal, improve glucose metabolism, reduce body weight and avoid complications such as hyperglycemia due to obesity. However, polycystic ovaries also have symptoms such as hirsutism, acne, irregular menstruation and persistent non-ovulation brought about by high androgens, which need to be treated according to the different symptoms that patients have. For example, those who are infertile can undergo ovulation treatment under doctor’s guidance; those with irregular menstruation and high androgens can take birth control pills under doctor’s guidance to make the androgens drop; those with large ovarian cysts and abnormal changes need to be removed through laparoscopic surgery. Exercise can play a role in reducing body weight and lowering glucose tolerance to control elevated blood sugar. Patients with polycystic ovaries should pay more attention to their diet, avoiding spicy and stimulating foods, eating more coarse grains, and taking proper supplements of mineral and vitamin-rich foods.
