Can high blood pressure be inherited?

Many data and research results show that hypertension has a strong genetic predisposition. Some scholars at home and abroad have found that the chance of having a child with hypertension is 3% if both parents are normotensive, 28% if one parent is hypertensive, and 45% if both parents are hypertensive. It is now believed that hypertension is a polygenic genetic disorder with multiple causes. Genetic analysis is valuable in confirming or excluding rare monogenic inherited hypertension. In addition to genetic factors, the development of hypertension is associated with many other factors such as salt addiction and obesity, and genetic factors must be combined with environmental factors to cause an increase in blood pressure.
