Dexamethasone for chronic epididymitis?

Generally, dexamethasone is not used for the treatment of chronic epididymitis, which is mainly treated with antibiotic drugs against infection as well as surgical treatment. Chronic epididymitis is mostly secondary to acute epididymitis, prostatitis and other lesions, the history of the disease is longer, the patient’s clinical symptoms to the epididymal region hard nodules, scrotal swelling, epididymal pain and (or) thighs, lower abdomen radiating pain. For the treatment of chronic epididymitis, on the one hand, patients should be instructed to take proper rest, elevate the scrotum, and apply hot compresses to the scrotal area. On the other hand, sensitive antibiotic drugs, such as penicillin, ceftriaxone, erythromycin and other drugs, should be taken to help patients stabilize their condition. Generally, dexamethasone treatment will not be used. If the patient has an acute onset of acute epididymitis and other conditions, dexamethasone treatment can be used for a short period of time, as appropriate, to help the patient’s condition subside quickly.
